Healing School Lesson 4: Activating the Promise of Divine Health Your Life
Living in divine health, in which the Christian never gets sick in their bodies, is not impossible or some pipe dream. Divine Health is a sure promise of God and a reality in the inner-man (spirit/soul) of every born-again believer in Jesus Christ. However, divine health will not just happen because we are the children of God. There are two very important steps that must be taken to see this promise come to past in our lives. First, we must, “voice activate” the promise of divine health, and then be willing and obedient to listen to the voice of the Holy Ghost, as He leads and guides us into the progressive manifestation of health in our bodies.
Let’s start today’s lesson in Exodus 23:25-26. God through Moses promised the children of Israel that if they served only Him, several blessings would be conferred upon them. Among the blessings, God would take away sickness from their midst, and they would live out the full length of their days on earth. The same promise is made to Christians today.
If we will dedicate our lives in service to Jesus Christ, God will take away all sickness and disease from our midst. We will never see, taste, nor experience sickness and disease! Thus, we have been afforded the opportunity to live out the full of our days in divine health. We should expect to live in health on average 120 years. (Genesis 6:3) The life expectancy of man is not a maximum of 80 years as indicated in Psalm 90:10. This age limitation was a judgement pronounced on a generation of the children of Israel for disobeying God while in the wilderness in route to the promise land. (Numbers 14:27-31, 32:11, Deuteronomy 1:19-45)
Regarding our health, we all need to all put on the same mindset one to another. (Romans 12:16) Those of us in the clergy, should stop leading funeral processions quoting from Psalm 90:10, which creates the wrong belief Christians that our life span is no more than 80 years—No, No! We should expect to live at least 120 years in health, as God has given to us. Sickness and disease should not be the cause of our deaths. Rather, the cause of death should be a life full of satisfaction, such that we fall asleep in our beds, and wake up present before the Lord. (Psalm 91:16) Indeed, we should preach and teach to our congregations that, “we are the healed of the Lord, and live in divine health.” (III John 2)
As I stated earlier, God’s promise of divine health does not happen on its own. To live in divine health requires us to have a healthy inner-man (spirit and soul). You can diet and exercise all you like, and it will help the body attain a level of health and fitness. But, without soul prosperity, the body cannot avoid sicknesses and diseases and live in divine health. As the Christian gains knowledge from God’s Word on health, the soul will prosper, which in turn will cause the physical body to respond in health.
Let’s begin to prosper your souls by gaining more knowledge about divine health. All of the promises of God in Jesus Christ, including divine health, have already been approved by God, placed in the inner-man of the Christian, and made ready for manifestation into the natural realm. (II Corinthians 1:20) All of God’s promises are exceedingly great and precious—far beyond human logic, intellect, and comprehension. Truly, living on earth free of all sickness and disease for at least 120 years is beyond human understanding to do. Through the finished works of Jesus Christ on His cross, God has given all things to us that pertain unto life and godliness. Certainly, divine health pertains unto life, and we own it!
All of the promises of God reside within our inner-man, and we have been commanded to focus our attention on things pertaining to the Spirit. (II Corinthians 5:17 & 4:18, Colossians 3:1-2) To activate the promise of divine healing, we must (1) by faith take a scripture like III John 2, which promises divine health and think and meditate on it, (2) look into our born-again spirits and see the pictures of our physical body produced by the Holy Ghost living in divine health, and (3) confess with our hearts and mouths that we live in divine health. I should also note, that when you see your physical body in the spirit, you will observe that it is free of all sickness and disease. Even if you are unable to visualize your body, there is a knowing in your spirit (called discernment) that gives assurance that you are free of all sickness and disease and made healthy. Glory be unto God!
The New Covenant we have with God, mandates that the promises of God be confessed with our mouths through faith in Jesus Christ, without wavering. (Hebrews 10:23) We cannot confess that we live in divine health one minute, and the next minute draw back with complaints about being sick and feeling like we are going die. Instead, we must be steadfast in our confession of health without fear and doubt. As we acknowledge that we possess and live in divine health, with great power, health will progressively take place in the physical body. (Philemon 6)
I must reiterate that every Christian must decisively choose whether to believe in divine health or not. Choose today, right now, whether to live in “life and blessing,” or “cursing and death.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). Your decision is being recorded in heaven. If for some reason you are confused about which one to choose, God even tells us the right answer—choose life so that you and your children may live in health. If you have chosen life and blessing congratulations! You are also free to add to your confession the promise God made in Vs. 20. Boldly say, that “God is my life, and the length of my days.” Sickness and disease will not dare come near the Christian who knows their life and days belong to God!
Upon activating the promise of divine health with our mouths, we must obey the voice of the Holy Ghost as He leads us into the manifestation of divine health. No person on earth knows the way to divine health but God—no matter how scholarly and educated in medicine, science, and technology he or she may be. (Jerimiah 10:23) In fact, the reason why the average life expectancy of a human being in the United States is a little more than 72 years, is because we fail to listen to the voice of God. However, if we put all of our trust in God and acknowledge Him in all our ways, the voice of the Holy Ghost will lead us into the path of divine health. (Proverbs 3:5-9, 4:20-22, and John 14:26)
The Holy Ghost will teach us how to live in ways to bring forth from the spirit divine health into our natural bodies. He will teach us moderation in eating and drinking, give us sweet sleep, and the proper methods of exercise for the body. He will warn us of dangers seen and unseen to preserve us alive. He will infuse our bodies with supernatural strength when the body naturally tires from daily work and stresses in life. He will serve as a refuge and fortress that protects our bodies from environmental hazards, communicable diseases, famines, and plagues.
Now, I would like to close with words of wisdom concerning whether to receive vaccinations against Covid-19. The Pandemic has caused massive destruction across the world and threatens the health and well-being of us all. I am hearing of far too many Christians who are saying they have no plans to get vaccinated. Some Christians say they will not get vaccinated because they don’t trust the government, while others say they believe the vaccine will seriously harm them. Other Christians say they have faith in God to keep them safe from the virus and have no need to be vaccinated.
Ultimately for Christians, the Holy Ghost should be our guide and final word on whether to get vaccinated. The Bible says we have an unction (Anointing) from the Holy Ghost, and know all things. (I John 2:20) The Spirit of God in you knows the answer on whether you should get vaccinated. But that does not mean we always hear the Spirit of God clearly when He speaks to us. Daily, we are bombarded with information on social media, thoughts of past experiences with vaccines, etc.—some of which can be false and misleading. God requires us to get an understanding on all matters that concern us in order to make decisions in life that are based on both sound natural and spiritual wisdom. (Proverbs 4:7) Thus, to help inform our decision, we should take the time to review reliable medical/science-based information on the vaccine.
I believe if we turn our full attention to the Word of God, we can resolve any conflict we may have about being vaccinated. Jesus Christ has commanded us to love one another as He has loved us. (John 13:34) Therefore, in obedience to the Lord, we must place the needs of others before our own, and role-up our sleeves and get vaccinated. Yes, for the sake of other people who could get infected by us (even by asymptomatic transmission) we should willingly get vaccinated to prevent the spread of the virus. Christians should have absolutely no fear of being vaccinated because all of our trust is place in God to work through the vaccine on our behalf and others. Moreover, if we have confessed that we live in divine health and God is our life and length of our days—getting vaccinated should be no problem for us to do.
Furthermore, consider this. Over the past year, the majority of us in this country have been practicing the guidance of our government by wearing masks, socially distancing, and washing our hands. These are all measures intended to protect us from getting the virus, and stopping the spread of the virus to others. These are actions that demonstrate our love for our own wellbeing and for the entire human population—and are consistent with Christ’s commandment to love one another. Now, we have vaccines available that are proven safe and effective at preventing hospitalizations and deaths—and can help us get back to a sense of normalcy. Tell me, why would a Christian (barring having a known medical problem with a vaccine) not get vaccinated?
Ultimately, I say to fellow Christians, whatever decision you make on getting vaccinated, make sure that you have fully sought and heard the voice of the Holy Ghost on what to do. Be sure that your decision is faith-directed and not fear-driven. (II Timothy 1:7) The decision you make should be based on sound thinking that is in line with God’s Word, natural law, medicine, and science.
