Sermon:        “ Followers of Jesus Christ Have Been Given the Gift of Command

                            Authority” Part 2

Presenter:   Dr. JoAnne P. King

Date: December 28, 2025

Praise the Lord, Good Morning and Happy New Year’s Saints. Last week’s message was “Followers of Jesus Christ Have Been Given the Gift of Command Authority!”  Jesus our Lord and Savior has given us many gifts, a few of them I listed last week. However, the gift of command authority, most Christians have not opened or are not aware of. That is the purpose of these sermons, to bring this gift to your attention and show you how to use it.

As I mentioned last week, I introduced command authority during my sermon on “There’s Something About the Name of Jesus.” At that time, I said all throughout the New Testament, Jesus used command authority and gave this power to His disciples. The Hebrew word for spoken is debar.  It means “to speak so that the universe comes in order the way you want it to;” now that is authority!

Today, we will cover the following topics: The command authority of a follower of Jesus Christ is sealed with blood covenants. Command authority begins at the beginning with God. As Christians, we have the authority to make commands and demands in the Name of Jesus. The authority is in THE NAME. We have the authority from God to renew our youth. We have been given Jesus’ rank. He is our Lord and Savior. And, Our Command Authority is God’s WORD.

  1. The Command authority of a follower of Jesus Christ is sealed with blood covenants.

The command authority of a follower of Jesus Christ is sealed with blood covenants. The Bible is full of blood covenants—the Abrahamic Covenant, the Noahic Covenant, Mosaic Covenant, the Davidic Covenant, etc.

Covenants in the Bible are serious promises made between God and people or among individuals. The blood covenant stands out as one of the most sacred, representing life, commitment, and sacrifice.

Here are a few Blood Covenant examples:

Gen. 9:11 says: “I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

This verse marks the establishment of a blood covenant between God and Noah. God promises to never destroy the earth with a flood again, and this covenant is binding. It displays God’s faithfulness to His covenant and serves as a reminder that He keeps His promises.

Exodus 24:8 says: “So Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.””

In this verse, Moses uses the blood of animals to ratify the covenant between God and the Israelites. The sprinkling of blood signifies the solemnity and binding nature of the covenant. It emphasizes the importance of upholding promises and the seriousness with which God regards His covenants.

Hebrews 9:15 says: “For this reason, Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Christ’s sacrifice on the cross represents the establishment of a new covenant. His shed blood serves as a ransom to redeem humanity from their sins and offers the promise of eternal life. This verse highlights the significance of Jesus as the mediator of the blood covenant and the freedom and salvation it brings.

1 Corinthians 11:25 says: “In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “this cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.””

During the Last Supper, Jesus institutes the practice of communion, using the symbolism of the cup to represent the new covenant in His blood. This verse emphasizes the importance of remembering and honoring the blood covenant through the act of communion, reminding believers of Jesus’ sacrifice.

Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant by perfectly obeying its moral law. He became the ultimate sacrifice that atoned for sins, and fulfilling numerous prophecies and covenants, thereby ushering in a New Covenant where God’s law is written on believer’s hearts. In this way, He shifted the focus from external observance to internal transformation. Thereby making a way for a deeper, spiritual relationship with God through faith, not just a ritual.

As mentioned last week, Jesus’ blood placed on the “Mercy Seat” in the “Holy of Holies” in heaven fulfilled both Covenants, as well as, all the promises and gifts in the Holy Bible.

  1. Command authority begins at the beginning with God

Gen. 1:1 says: “In the beginning God …” You see that in the beginning God was there, before anything existed. The word God used there in the Hebrew is Elohim, a plural form of the word God. Elohim, represents the Holy Trinity (God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit) was there at Creation. We know that the Holy Spirit was there because scripture says the Spirit of Elohim moved upon the face of the waters. This is the same Holy Spirit that Paul said raised Jesus from the dead. “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you” (Rom. 8:11).

In the beginning, God spoke using His Command Authority and as the above definition states: “to speak so that the universe comes in order the way you want it to.”  We know that everything He created was what He wanted because He said: “It was good.”

In verse 2, we see that the earth was without form, and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

From verse 3 on down, we see that God using command authority restored everything back the way He had commanded it to be, in the first place, by saying Let there be Light and everything else down to verse 25 as it was before—and it was!

  1. As Christians, we have the authority to make commands and demands in the Name of Jesus.

Once God decrees something, He never changes His mind. God intended for mankind to have this same command authority. God created man and gave mankind dominion over the whole planet. In Genesis 1:26 Amp.: “Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air; the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.” (Gen. 1:28 Amp.) “And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it (putting it under your power); and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

As you know, Satan stole this command authority from Adam and Eve but through Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection restored the ability to use command authority by His followers.

  • David knew God as Lord, Jehovah. David was a shepherd and tended his father’s sheep. He was away from his family, off in the meadows with the sheep as their protector.  David wrote 73 Psalms. In fact, he wrote the 23rd Psalm that we so often recite. David placed himself in the 23rd Psalm instead of sheep.

I can just imagine that David at night while the sheep were sleeping would pull out some hand-made instrument and begin to compose and sing songs to the Lord, Jehovah. Because he had this relationship between himself and the Lord, Jehovah, he was successful in slaying a lion and bear that wanted to kill the sheep he was protecting.

  • Because David had a relationship with Jehovah, he was not afraid of Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17:32-53 Amp., David says to King Saul: “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

And Saul said to David, ‘thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.’

And David said unto Saul, ‘thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him; and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.’

Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.’ David said moreover, ‘The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, ‘Go, and the Lord be with thee.’”

“Then, David told the Philistine using command authority, ‘You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.

This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you down and cut off your head: And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,’ ‘And that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save with the sword or with the spear; for the battle is the Lord’s and He will hand you over to us.’

“When the Philistine rose and came forward to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. David put his hand into his bag and took out a stone and slung it, and it struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone penetrated his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.

So, David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck down the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David’s hand. So, he ran and stood over the Philistine, grasped his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their [mighty] champion was dead, they fled. The men of Israel and Judah stood with a shout and pursued the Philistines as far as the entrance to the valley and the gates of Ekron. And the [fatally] wounded Philistines fell along the way to Shaaraim, even as far as Gath and Ekron.

The sons of Israel returned from their pursuit of the Philistines and plundered their camp. Then David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, but he put his weapons in his tent.”

Psalm 8 is one of my favorite. David doesn’t mention Jesus by Name, but Psalm 8 talks about Him and His authority. He says: “Oh LORD, our LORD, how excellent is Thy Name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

David doesn’t mention Jesus by Name, but Psalm 8 talks about Him and His authority [as well as, the authority, He has given man]! “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightiest still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider the heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained. What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visiteth him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels (God), and has crowned him with glory and honor.  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field. The fowl of the air and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!”

  1. The Authority is in THE NAME.

I remember when Pastor Darryl was teaching us the scripture in Philippians 4:13 which says: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Many of you, remember this exercise. He had us to hold out one arm and place the other hand on the arm and say that scripture using your name or someone else’s name in place of Christ and have you push on the extended arm and it would come down. However, if you placed your hand on the right outstretched arm and said that you could do all things through Christ that strengthens me, the arm would not go down! Praise God!

I love what the Amplified Bible says: “I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” Jesus is letting us know that nothing is impossible when we use the name of Jesus in love and faith!

Matthew 17:20 says: “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Mark 9:23-27 says: “And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, how hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, who then can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Mark 11:22-24 Amp. says: Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].”

Notice that in some of Jesus’ miracles, He speaks to inanimate objects such as mountains, storms, trees, food and they obey Him. These objects must have ears because the Bible says that the fig tree spoke back to Him. All of the above objects, obeyed His commands.

John 14:12-15 Amp. says: “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name [as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name [as My representative], I will do it. If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.”

John 15:7, 16 Amp. says: “If you remain in Me and My words, remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name [as My representative] He may give it to you.”

The above scriptures make it clear that as His representative, whatever you ask that’s Biblical, in love and faith, in His Name, it will be done for you!

  • We have the authority from God to renew our youth.
  • You have authority to command your youth to be restored.

Psalm 103:1-5 Amp. says: “Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, and all that is [deep] within me, bless His holy name. Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget any of His benefits: [What are these benefits?] Who forgives all your sins. Who heals all your diseases. Who redeems your life from the pit. Who crowns you [lavishly] with loving kindness and tender mercy. Who satisfies your years with good things, So, that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle.”

I heard a tele-evangelist say that he was praying by his mother’s death bed for her healing and the Lord said she doesn’t need healing, she needs her youth renewed. So, he prayed for his mother’s youth to be renewed. She arose out of that death bed and lived 2 additional years.

While preparing this series, I was in physical therapy and I sowed this scripture in my spirit and asked the Lord to restore my youth according to Psalm 103:5. I sowed this scripture just like we sow Psalm 91 for protection.  As a result, I have been complimented by my therapist and others on my progress, saying: “I was doing things that she thought would be impossible!!” She even commented and told another therapist that she had witnessed a miracle with my left elbow, Praise God!

Therefore, I strongly suggest anyone who is having health issues that you use your command authority and pray that the Lord would restore your youth according to Psalm 103:5.

You have command authority over grief. That’s huge!

 Isaiah 53:4 Amp. says:

 “But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, And He has carried our sorrows and pains;

Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him].”

You know we read these scriptures and never apply them to ourselves when it plainly says that He carried and bore our griefs, sorrows and pains, so we don’t have to! God cannot and will not carry what you will not release.

  • Many Christians don’t know they have any authority. Why, you might ask?

Because they spend too much time on the First Covenant that they read to mean, “God will put a curse on you.” Why do people always have a tendency to think the negative about everything instead of the positive? Maybe, it’s because they don’t think they deserve God’s best, His goodness and mercy. He tells us plainly that He is love and desires the best for His children. He has given us example after example of His goodness shown to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, etc. God loves you as much as He loves Jesus!  You need to say this over and over again until it becomes a part of you.

  1. We have been given Jesus’ rank. He is our Lord and Savior.

Just listen to some of the names that we are called:

1 John 3:1 says: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the Sons of God …”

1 Peter 2:9 says: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

1 Timothy 6:15b Amp. says: “… He who is the blessed and only Sovereign [the absolute Ruler], the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords.

Romans 1:17 Amp. says: “For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, “The just and upright shall live by faith.”

What else did Christ do for us?

Galatians 3:13-14 Amp. says: “Christ purchased our freedom and redeemed us from the curse of the Law and its condemnation becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “cursed is everyone who hangs [crucified] on a tree (cross)” in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might also come to the Gentiles, so that we would all receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit through faith.

Jesus is upholding all things and has been given a more excellent Name. (Heb. 1:2)

Hebrews 1:3d-4 Amp. says: “He sat down [revealing His completed work] at the right hand of the Majesty on high [revealing His Divine authority], having become as much superior to angels, since He has inherited a more excellent and glorious name than they [that is, Son—the name above all names].

  1. Our Command Authority is God’s WORD.

The Amplified Bible is an excellent way to read the intent of the writer. It opens the meaning of some of the Hebrew and Greek words, as well as, using language of today that everybody can understand. When you can understand God’s Word clearly than you should be able to use God’s command authority correctly. Believe God and His Word when He says you can do certain things! Remember and tell yourself, if necessary, that: “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”

  • Jesus passed the test, that Adam failed—without sin.

[Luke 4:18-19 Amp. says: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me (the Messiah), Because He has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor.  He has sent Me to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed (downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy), To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the favor of God abound greatly.”

And, 1 Corinthians 15:45 Amp. says: “So it is written [in Scripture], “The first man, Adam, became a living soul (an individual),” the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving spirit [restoring the dead to life]; then the spiritual.”

In today’s politics, world leaders draw what they call red lines that are not supposed to be crossed. If they are crossed, then certain conditions are supposed to happen.

Well, God has a line and it is called a “light line.”

Everything above the line is God’s domain. Man was created above that light line.

1 John 1:3-9 says: “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth:

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Psalm 119:105 Amp. says: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Prov. 6:23 says: “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.”

When Adam and Eve sinned, they fell below the light line into a form of darkness.

1 John 2:11 Amp. says: “But the one who habitually hates (works against) his brother [in Christ] is in [spiritual] darkness and is walking in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.”

Jesus Christ has command authority. Ultimate authority has to be delegated and since we are His children that authority has been delegated to us as His representatives in the earth.

In conclusion, it is one thing to know you have command authority; it’s another to know how to use it. I will give you four examples, of my using command authority

First example: On November 15, 2025, I had granddaughter, Franciel, pick me up and take me to a funeral in Washington, D. C. I was on assignment, because I had words to say to the widow of the deceased. Franciel had taken my rollator out of my car and placed it in the trunk of her car.

As she was driving down New Hampshire Avenue, I noticed rain hitting her front window pane. I had an umbrella in my car beside my rollator. I asked her if she picked up the umbrella? She replied no, and she didn’t have one in her car either! That Saturday was a very cold and windy day and having to walk from the parking lot to the church with a rollator and no umbrella would have been difficult. I am sure the enemy sent the rain to discourage me and try to get me to cancel the trip. But I was on assignment, so, using command authority, I commanded the rain to stop and come back another day. The rain stopped and we proceeded to the church, enjoyed the service, and I had the opportunity to deliver the message I had for the widow and returned home. Praise God.

Heb. 1:14 says: “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” The ministering spirits are angelic apostles. [Gr. aposello, to send forth as a messenger with a commission, the sender remaining behind. The noun, apostle, denotes one thus sent. Here angels are sent like apostles to minister to the heirs of salvation. Not only do the angels minister to the heirs of salvation; they minister for the heirs of salvation.] [Additionally, Psa. 120:3 says: “Bless the Lord ye his angels, that excel in strength; that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.”] Every follower of Jesus Christ has angels assigned to them. These angels carry out your commands when they are perfectly in line with God’s Word(s) and Spirit (Love).

Example 2: If you notice when I pray for the sick, I am using command authority when I dispatch angels to their homes, hospitals, etc. to clean out the areas from anything that is not of God; keep the area clean; and minister to the sick person healing from whatever the ailment might be. Additionally, I pray that the doctor(s) be given wisdom and see the patient through God’s eyes. In that way, the doctor will not make a wrong diagnosis. I usually bless the medicine that it will accomplish what it is supposed to. Finally, I thank God for the patient and his/her healing.

The third example: On Saturday, November 25, 2023, I remember praying in tongues before leaving the house to pick up my groceries from the Giant Supermarket in Olney, MD. I drove the usual approximately 6 blocks or so to the stop light at Randolph Rd. and Locksley Lane. When I arrived at the intersection, the light was red. When the light turned green, I proceeded into the intersection, to my left there are three lanes and there were cars stopped in the first and third lane. As I was turning my wheel to make a left turn onto Randolph Rd., I saw a black car coming straight at me from the second lane at full speed. He “T-boned” the Mercedes I was driving knocking my foot off the gas pedal and against the console. Fortunately, I was able to drive my car to the 3rd lane heading east. There were cars stopped at the red light behind me, so I drove my car to the first lane heading east, put my blinkers on and turned the car off. I called Pastor Darryl and 911.

Everything about that accident was miraculous, there were no skids marks indicating the other driver did not slow down. The speed limit is 45 but everyone drives faster. Only the side airbag opened and not the front airbag, not one window broke. I only suffered a small hair-line fracture of the ankle and pain across the chest from the seat belt for a short time. I am convinced that my praying in tongues (which is the perfect prayer) and sowing the 91st Psalm of protection is what saved my life and/or prevented me from being seriously injured. I preached the whole month of January, 2024. Praise God!

There’s another gift that many followers of Jesus Christ don’t use or use very sparingly which is “unknown tongues.”  We are told in the Book of Jude to build ourselves up, praying in the Holy Ghost. When we pray in the Holy Ghost, we are praying the perfect prayer. Who doesn’t want to pray a perfect prayer? One that the devil cannot interfere or stop! For you who have not spoken, ask and believe for your gift of “unknown tongues” to manifest in Jesus’ Name, just believe and receive.

The fourth example, I told some of you before but it is worth repeating. I was using command authority when I prayed the following scripture over my sons for years, [when they were in the world], placing their names where the word you appears. You might want to pray it over yourself for wisdom and revelation into the deeper things of God, as well as, for your unsaved loved ones.

Ephesians 1:17-23, AMPC says: “[ I aways pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].  And [I pray] that the  eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual]  power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength which He produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human] and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred] not only in this age and world, but also in the one to come. And He put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers].”

I believe that you will agree with me, that God truly gave Pastor Darryl all of the above wisdom beyond measure that I prayed for!

Since the New Year is a year of new beginnings, I pray that you will begin to utilize the gift of command authority, as well as, saying, the above prayer in Ephesians for your unsaved loved ones and don’t quit. As you are faithful in saying the prayer for them, you will see them come to Christ, if you faint notYou will never fail when you pray God’s Word because it will not return to you void! It will always accomplish the work that it was sent to do.

God is faithful, if He did it for me, He will do it for you. In 2026, I look forward to hearing great testimonies from the Saints of the “Great things they did for God, using Command Authority.” God Bless, Amen, and so let it be done!
