Healing School: The body is for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
(I Corinthians 6:13)
Today, I want to talk to you about your attitude. I'm talking about your attitude toward sickness and disease. Most Christians have the wrong attitude about sickness and disease when it shows up in their bodies. Attitude defined, is a set and settled way of thinking about a person or thing, that ultimately results in the way a person behaves. Most Christians have developed a set way of thinking about sickness and disease, patterned after the world's way of thinking about it.
Many Christians have been taking ownership of sickness and disease by saying things like, "my headache, my backache, my asthma, my allergies, my diabetes, and my cancer." When people take ownership of sickness and disease, in ignorance, they are acknowledging and giving permission for the disease to make its home in the human body. People love to claim illness, and whatever you love to say, it is for certain you will have it. Either death or life is turned on by the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21) If you have been medically diagnosed with a disease or sickness—always say from your heart that, “Jesus Christ has healed me from the specific disease or sickness. For example, say Jesus Christ has healed me from Covid-19—not that you have Covid-19.”
The Christian Reaper can never take ownership of sickness and disease. As we showed last week, Jesus Christ has given authority to all believers in Him to preach the gospel and work miracles, including healing the sick. (Mark 16:15-16 & Acts 1:8). The Reaper cannot take ownership of sickness and disease in their own body, while also praying and laying hands on the sick and expecting the person to recover. That is called “double mindedness,” which causes the Christian to be unstable in all their ways. (James 1:7-8). Doublemindedness is a disease of the inner-man (spirit) that cannot be cured by drugs or a medical procedure performed by a doctor.
Only by drawing near to God and receiving the Word of God with an humble heart can cure doublemindedness. (James 1:8, 21) The Christian must settle for themselves that the Word of God is the final authority, and transform their attitude about sickness and disease to fully agree with the Word of God. Many scriptures witness that God neither designed nor created the human body to be afflicted with sickness and disease---so never blame God for it when it attacks body!
Receive these scriptures with a spirit of meekness which show how God designed and created the human body, as well as the works of Jesus Christ to heal all manner of sickness and diseases. The scriptures will bring you into agreement with God and heal you from doublemindedness:
*Genesis 1: 26-28, 2:7, 5: 2, and Psalm 8:4-6: Man was made in the similitude of God, and given complete dominion over all the earth.
*Psalm 139:14: “Man” is the miraculous handiwork of God.
* Colossians 1: 16-17: The human body consist of Jesus Christ, and was solely made by and for Jesus Christ!
*Acts 10:38, Luke 4:18, Mark 2:17: While Jesus walked on earth, His ministry was full of miracles and healing the sick and diseased. For it was His testimony that He was anointed to preach the gospel and heal sin-sick sinners.
* Isaiah 53: 4-5 and I Peter 2:24: For the entire human race, Jesus Christ bore our sorrows and griefs, as well as endured hundreds of strips on His torn body for the healing of us all.
*III John 2: For God’s beloved creation He wishes only that they prosper and be in health, as their souls prosper.
These scriptures affirm that God designed and made mankind to be healthy, and not sick and diseased. Moreover, the Bible tells us how sickness and disease entered into the world and mankind, that is, through sin—the source of which is Satan. In Romans 5: 12, the Apostle Paul stated that by one man's transgression (Adam), sin and death entered the whole world. Death is nothing more than sickness matured. Sickness has its origin in sin. If there had been no sin in the world, then there would have been no sickness and death.
Praise Almighty God, that through the finished works of Jesus, mankind has been made free from all sickness and diseases. Romans 5: 17-18 declares, just as sin and death entered the world by one man’s (Adam) offence, by one man (Jesus) came righteous, healing, and life to all people. (Romans 5:17-18) Through Jesus, God has forgiven all of our iniquities (the practice of sin) and healed us of all our diseases. (Psalm 103:3) Moreover, we have a New Covenant with God that assures us that He remembers our sins and iniquities no more. (Hebrews 10:16-18) Thus, sickness and disease should never be tolerated in the physical body!
Christians’ attitude toward sickness and disease should be one of hatred. Sickness and disease is evil in all of its doings. (Romans 12:9 and Proverbs 8:13) Sickness and disease is a thief and robber of life that only seeks to make its home in the human body to destroy it with premature death. We should treat sickness and disease, just as we would an intruder that breaks into our homes attempting to steal our belongings. When the thief is spotted and captured we forcefully bind him up and turn him over to the police for prosecution. Thus, when sickness and diseases appears in our bodies and/or in the bodies of those we pray for, we must use forceful spiritual actions to remove the illness and usher in healing.
