Sermon: Healing School: The Body is for the Lord, and the Lord for the Body.
Last week, we established that Christian Reapers have been charged and given authority by Jesus Christ to preach the gospel and work miracles. (Mark 16:15-20) However, most Christians have never preached the gospel to the lost and worked a miracle, such as healing the sick. The reason is because Satan comes and places doubt and unbelief in the minds of the Reaper—making them question whether God will actually use them to heal the sick because of their sinful past performance.
When Christians fail to take action to heal the sick, they give free course to Satan and sickness and disease to have a home illegally in the human body—to steal, and to kill, and to destroy the lives of people. But the good news is Jesus came that every person might have abundant life, free of sickness and disease! (John 10:10)
As such, the Christian Reaper must overcome all feelings of unworthiness to heal the sick due to their past sinful behavior, no matter how new or old the sin maybe. To overcome feelings of unworthiness, the Christian must embrace this awesome truth:
“God uses Imperfect People Perfectly to Fulfill His Will.”
Last week, we illustrated this truth by examining very serious weaknesses in Abraham—a mighty man of faith Abraham and the father of many nations. The first recorded healing in the Bible was performed by Abraham. (Genesis 20:17-18) When praying to God, Abraham paid no attention to his past sins, and God healed the entire household of King Abimelech. (See sermon dated, January 10, 2021)
This exact same truth was played out in the lives of the disciples of Jesus Christ. After Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, those who had seen Him alive reported their findings to the disciples, and they refused to believe them. (Mark 16: 9-14) Then Jesus appeared unto His disciples as they were eating dinner, and He rebuked them for their hardness of heart in not believing that He had risen from the dead.
But notice, immediately after his rebuke, Jesus commanded the disciples to go and preach the gospel and work miracles. (Mark 16: 15-20) Thereafter, the disciples (Apostles) never considered their past sinful performance in fulfilling the Great Commission. No doubt, while going about preaching the gospel and healing the sick, Satan attempted to attack the disciples with thoughts of unworthiness. The Apostles could have reflected, for example on how they abandoned Jesus when he was arrested, hid in fear for their lives during his crucifixion, and refused to believe in his resurrection from the dead. Instead, they obeyed the commandment of Jesus and boldly preached the gospel and worked miracles in everywhere they traveled.
Finally, in Galatians 3: 1-5, the Apostle Paul’s admonishment of the Galatians concerning their complaints about Gentile believers in Jesus not being accepted as Christians because they had not been circumcised and following other rituals under the law of Moses, eradicates all concerns Christians should have about feeling unworthy to heal the sick because of self-performance.
Paul asked the Galatians if they had received salvation, the Holy Ghost, and were working miracles by their performance in keeping the Law of Moses, or by their faith in Jesus Christ and His works on the cross? The obvious answer to the questions was by faith in Jesus Christ. For we are not saved by works, but by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Wow, what an awesome truth! Think for moment. We are all born-again by the hearing of faith in Jesus Christ. We received the Holy Ghost by the hearing of faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we work miracles, including healing the sick by the hearing of faith in Jesus Christ.
Why is it that our own self-works and performance as Christians, whether good or bad has no bearing on whether we can perform miracles? The answer is because the faith of Jesus Christ given to us, only sees and lays hold on the eternal promises of God of future success, and brings the promises of God into the present and manifestation. (Hebrews 11:1-2) Faith has no regard for sin—past, present, or future because through Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross, God remembers our sins and iniquities no more! (Hebrews 10:16-18)
Tell me, what self-work can you do to earn the right to heal a sick person? It is only by faith in Jesus and what He has accomplished that the sick are healed. (I Peter 2: 24) Finally, notice at John 14:12 that Jesus assures us that anyone who believes on Him shall do the same works as He did, and greater works. Notice, Jesus did not say that anyone who has not committed sin shall do the same works that He did and greater works.
So when given the opportunity to heal the sick comes your way, pay no attention to thoughts from the devil of unworthiness due to your past behavior. Tell the devil to get out of your way, and go and lay your hands on the sick and believe God has healed the person and their physical recovery is on the way! “God Uses Imperfect People Perfectly to Fulfill His Will.”
