Sermon Part 2: “God Has Equipped You For Faithful Financial Stewardship!”

The two Truths most born-again Christians have the hardest “Time” believing is that (1) all of their sins have been forgiven, and (2) that God has made them wealthy! The unwillingness to believe both of these Truths keeps so many Christians wasting their “Time” treading in lack and insufficiency.
Good Morning and Happy Sunday Saints!
Introduction
Saints, please put on your “God-Goggles” (meaning look in your born-again hearts) for a few minutes as I talk about the woman in the picture illustration above. The picture illustration gives me great joy; jubilee running-over in my born-again heart! I imagine that the woman in the picture with her hands extended outward to receive the sack of money, is a born-again Christian, who has just received the manifestation of the Precious Promise of God of wealth transference.
The Holy Scriptures decree that the “…wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just.” (Prov.13:22) Wealth and riches are Promised to those who fear the Lord and delight themselves greatly in God’s Commandments. (Ps.112:1-3) Moreover, at the outset of Jesus Christ’s public Ministry on earth, on a Sabbath day, He stood up in the synagogue and read a Passage of Scripture from the Book of Isaiah. (Is. 61:1) He declared that the “Spirit of the Lord” was upon Him, and had “Anointed” Him to preach the gospel to the “poor,” in various conditions, and that the “Acceptable Year” of the Lord/the Day of Jubilee (Debt-cancellation and a double-portion blessing of the riches of the Gentiles were to come into the possession of the Jews, God’s chosen people. (Also, see Isaiah 61:6-7.) Jesus decreed, “This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears.” (Luke 4:18-21).
Since that day of Jesus’s wonderful Announcement that He is the Messiah; healing, deliverance, and prosperity (wealth, money, and material substance) has been available to everyone who would believe on Jesus Christ and follow after Him. Moreover, Jesus Christ said that “all things are possible (powerful) unto those who believe in God.” (Matt.19:26) Just as miracles of healing, deliverance, and salvation are free gifts from God to Mankind through belief in Jesus Christ; money and the abundance of all good material things are free and available through the Anointed King Jesus to those who believe!
Thus, in our picture illustration, we can imagine that this faithful woman of God, having heard and believed the gospel of Jesus Christ, understood that this was her “Time” to receive the harvest of money in abundance. With confidence and boldness of heart, the woman was prepared to receive the sack of money, and stretched forth her hands to take possession of it! God does not shower-down money from Heaven, neither does it grow on trees. Rather, God uses people and entities to bring wealth to us. Wealth that cries out and longs to be in the hands of the Righteous, is seeking to land within the palms of your hands. Every one of us should routinely call money and say to it, “I’m over here!” Do this now, call money into your house in the name of Jesus; only believe!
Perhaps the sack of money came to the woman in the picture through a job promotion, a legal settlement, or as a beneficiary of a family member’s estate. But, more important than the receipt of the money into her hands, I also imagine the woman being a “faithful steward” over the money that God had entrusted to her stewardship.
The Holy Bible speaks of the necessity of stewards to be found faithful. (I Cor. 4:2) They must have a reputation of being trustworthy, telling the truth, and living in integrity. That, no matter the amount of money, the thought of heaping the money up and consuming it on her own lust for things in the world, never was a thought she entertained. Although Satan certainly would have tempted her to only think of herself and coax her to dive deep into a sea of self-indulgence.
In her case, she fully understood before and after receipt of the money who her “Source” is for all good things that come her way. That God in Christ Jesus was solely responsible for the cash finding its way into her hands, as a part of the New Covenant relationship she has with God.
Her holy ambition for money is seen in her eyes and heart as a pre-ordained Work of God. That “Time” had released the money into her hands for a “Divine Purpose” of God, and that faithful stewardship of the money to the Anointed King Jesus is of paramount importance.
Lastly, I imagine that the woman of God has an inner-smile and joy of knowing the harvest of cash she received did not come by accident, but because of what God in Christ Jesus had “equipped” her with. She understands that money and all good things are attracted to her because of the “Spiritual Equipment” given to her by God. Moreover, in the future, she “expects” to receive more bountiful harvests of money and good things to come during her “Time” on earth, to fulfill God’s Divine Purpose for money. Thank God this Christian woman is membered to a Church that equips its members with knowledge of the Spiritual Equipment we have in Christ to be fruitful unto every good work of God.
In this Sermon, I am delighted to talk to you about the Spiritual Equipment God in Christ Jesus has given to every born-again Christian to enable us to receive wealth and material substance, as well as many other good things, in fulfillment of our New Covenant with God. All God needs from each of us is to “believe.” Yes, only believe!
The Spirit of the Lord Is Upon You to Receive Money
Ephesians 4:10-15 lays out for the Body of Christ, the core responsibilities of Church leadership in leading born-again Christians into “spiritual maturity” in everything God has called and Purposed for us to do while on earth. The Apostle Paul wrote:
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
The Five-Fold Ministry (some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers) are gifts of God given to the Body of Christ, in “Time;” for the perfecting of the Saints, the work of the Ministry and building up the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In perfecting the Saints and preparing them for the work of the Ministry, it is vitally important that Church Leaders provide foundational teaching and training of Christian converts in three key areas to prepare them for handling money God’s Way. The three key areas are: (1) God’s Divine Purpose for our lives on earth, (2) The indwelling of Christ within us, and (3) The Spiritual Equipment we have been given to live for Jesus, and work for Him.
These topical areas are very broad and cannot be covered in detail in one Session. But, I will briefly talk about each one, with emphasis on the third topic of the endowment of Spiritual Equipment as it is our focus for today’s Sermon.
God’s Divine Purpose: Before God created the world, God in His omniscience foreknew us all, and predetermined that we would be “conformed” to the image of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. God predetermined that we would all be called the sons of God: He sanctified, justified, and glorified us before He created the world. God predetermined that we would be like Jesus in all manner of conversation in life on earth, and throughout eternity. About the predestination of son-ship, the Apostle Paul wrote at Romans 8:29-30:
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
The born-again Christian is never to wonder about their existence on earth; why they were born into the world, who they should pattern their life after, or what they will be like in their final days on earth.
We are in the world today, by the Divine Purpose and Order of God. It is our “Time” to go through the “process of being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ” in our hearts (spirit, soul, and mind of the soul), character, behavior, and performance to bring glory to God. Jesus Christ has begun the “good” work of molding us into His image, and He will continue the work until the Day of His Return. (Php.1:6) Furthermore, when Jesus Christ returns to rapture His Church, our physical bodies will be changed into glorified bodies like unto His. (Rom. 8:11) Jesus, the first Resurrected from the dead never to die again, and we the brethren will follow, having the same Spirit of Christ that dwells in our hearts now.
God preordained before the world began that we would be conformed to the image of Christ Jesus so that we might also “do” the same works, and greater works of Jesus in the earth. (John 14:12) Good works that were ordered by God that we should “do,” before God created “Time” in the earth (seconds, minutes, hours, days, seasons, and years). Notice, in the word “do” there is no room for “Procrastination.” Rather, the word “do” only finds harmony with words like; “work,” “execution,” and “success.” The Apostle Paul wrote at Ephesians 2:10:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Jesus Christ, the Anointed King of kings and Lord of lords, has Commanded that we follow after Him. (Matt.16:24) Our born-again hearts have been made “ready” to live the Life of Jesus Christ in the earth; to display His Character, Behavior, and Performance (Works) in the earth planned by God before the foundations of the world began. Thus, our lives are to be lived in decency and order; like the Master’s life.

Our inner-beings are prepared right now to walk in the same works and greater works of Christ. (John 14:12) Footsteps that are ordered only by God to do: Work, after Work, after Work, after Work of Jesus Christ to the glory of God! Yes, walking in the Redeeming Footsteps of Jesus, who with His finished work on the cross and Resurrection from the dead on the third-day, and Ascension to the right hand throne of God the Father brought fulfillment of the Messianic Covenant and Abrahamic Covenant to light. (Gen. 3:15 & Gen. 12:1-5, & Gal. 3:6-9) More on the Abrahamic Covenant will follow.
The Indwelling Christ: The day that we received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost, came into our hearts forevermore. (I John 4:15) God in Christ Jesus has washed us from our sins in the blood of Jesus, planted His Laws in our hearts and written them on our souls. Our sins and iniquities God remembers no more, and God wants us only to believe! This is all a part of our New Covenant we have with God our Father; (Heb.10:12-17)
Our hearts have been made perfect/complete, as the God-head dwells within us. (Col. 2:10) The born-again Christian must understand that hence-forth now and forevermore, “Christ is our life,” and we are to completely yield ourselves to His ruler-ship; to allow the Spirit of the Life and Mind of Jesus Christ to live through us, as servants of Righteousness. (Rom. 6:13-18, I Cor. 2:16, & Php. 2:5) I told you earlier that the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just (Righteous). Thus, it is certain that money is crying out for you, and will eventually find its way into your hands as you yield your life to Jesus and walk in His decent and orderly footsteps.
To each of us, God has allotted “Time” on earth to live out our days displaying the Life of Jesus Christ before all people of the earth. We are to use the financial resources God has placed in our hands wisely to the glory of God, and then we die, and take our place with the Lord in mansions on high in Heaven and receive our just rewards. (John 14:14:1-2 & II Cor. 5:10)
Spiritual Equipment Given: To every born-again Christian who has repented of their sins, confessed Jesus as Lord, and received water baptism under the authority of Jesus Christ, God has graciously given the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38) Other names for the Holy Ghost in Scripture include, “The Holy Spirit,” “The Spirit of the Lord,” or the “Spirit of the Lord God.” Like Jesus Christ, every born-again Christian has been Anointed with the Holy Ghost and Power and commissioned to “do” the good works, ordained by God before the world began. (John 14:12) At Acts 10:38, the Apostle Peter summarized what he and the disciples had witnessed regarding the Work of Christ while in the earth; Peter stated:
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Jesus Christ was equipped with the Holy Ghost (The Spirit of the Lord) and with Power, and did all manner of miracles, healing all who were oppressed of the devil because God was with Him. As born-again Christians, we have been created in Jesus Christ, and also equipped with the Spirit of the Lord, and anointed to do the Good-Works of Christ. And, God says only believe!
Praise God, as Ambassadors of Jesus Christ we have been Commanded to go and preach the gospel to the “poor,” of every condition, and to decree that the Acceptable Year of the Lord/Jubilee/debt cancellation is today! (Mark 16:15-16) We are to decree to the poor, (those in financial peril and ruin) that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be made rich! (Rom.10:12) We are to decree to those in bondage to financial debt that through Jesus Christ this is their Day of Jubilee! This is the day that the person in bondage to debt is to be set free and receive “double” for their trouble!

Millions of people as I speak are in bondage to debt. Financial insufficiency brings the bondage of worry, frustration, and stress on the human mind and body. The heavy burden of debt will bring a person to mourning and sorrow.
But you see Saints, the Spirit of the Lord brings “comfort” to those in mourning! (Is. 61:2) The Holy Bible decrees that “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is “Liberty;” freedom from “all oppression!” (II Cor. 3:17) The Spirit of the Lord God, gives beauty for ashes, the oil of joy, for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. (Is. 61:2-3)
God in Christ Jesus has given to every born-again Christian the Spirit of the Lord for such a “Time” as this. Through the Anointing of God, which is in you and on you, to remove heavy burdens and destroy the yokes of financial lack and indebtedness of family members, friends, strangers, and enemies: The Spirit of the Lord and the Anointing are for “All” who are oppressed by the devil.
Jesus Christ told the disciples that freely they had received authority over the enemy Satan and his wicked works, and freely they were to give it away. (Matt. 10:8) Yes, the secret to wealth transference is the Spirit of the Lord God, and He (the Holy Ghost and the Anointing) are transferrable to everyone who would believe in Jesus Christ!
Before going further, let me also say that the Spirit of the Lord and Anointing are not a “feeling,” nor tied to our emotions. Sometimes in Christian Circles we get carried away when references are made to the “Spirit of the Lord,” the “Holy Ghost,” “Power,” and “Anointing” and we over emotionalize things.
Notice at Luke 4:18, when Jesus stood up and read from the Book of Isaiah Announcing to the congregates that the Spirit of the Lord was on Him and had Anointed him to preach the gospel, that He did not burst out into shouting and dancing, and tears and running around the synagogue. No, no, no. He only spoke the “Truth in love” to the people and then took His seat.
You see Saints, the “Truth” is love’s best work. The Truth just tells it like it is and goes about its business doing a good work for people who cannot help themselves, regardless of their station and situation in life. The Truth helps us understand the nature of God: That God is Love, and He Loves us no matter our condition, and then Truth goes to work to set us free. (John 8:31-32)
After Jesus read from Isaiah 61 and sat down, He was ready to do all manner of miracles, including to release the blessings of the Acceptable Year of the Lord on the people according to the Scripture, if they had “only believed” in Him. But, they did not, and instead they sought to kill Him.
Saints, when you learn that someone is struggling financially and they are crying out for help: Tell them that Jesus Christ is the answer to their financial need, gently lay your hands on them, and pray/decree that financial deliverance, healing, and restoration is coming to them, if they will believe in the name of Jesus. (Mark 16:15-16) As born-again Christians, we have been Anointed by God to heal all manner of sickness and disease through Jesus’ name. (Col. 3:17) Financial lack is a sickness, and financial insolvency is a disease.
Also while praying, listen to the Spirit of the Lord who will direct you on giving of your own money to help those in need. Your heart has been made to love others, as Jesus has loved you and sacrificed His life for you. (John 13:34) Your heart has been made to desire to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. (Matt. 7:12) Jesus said it is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35) Within these Commandments of the Anointed King Jesus we find God’s Divine Purpose for Money.
Money with a Mission
In working to perfect the Saints regarding financial matters, it is vitally important that we understand the “Purpose of Money,” from God’s perspective, and not the world’s view of it.

The eyes of Mankind look at money and immediately desire to seize it and use it for selfish gain. To grab-hold to as much money as they can to use it to satisfy lust and greed, which is unquenchable. Indeed, the Bible spends a significant amount of “Time” talking about money. For example, of the 39 Parables of Jesus Christ, 11 talk about the handling of money. Jesus even taught that it is “impossible” to serve God and Mammon. (Mat. 6:24) Mammon is a wicked spirit, a son of Satan that works to persuade people to trust in money rather than God, and to handle money in ways that oppose God’s Divine Purpose for it.
According to Jesus Christ, we must choose between God and Mammon, for we either love the one or hate the other. So critical to our relationship with God in Christ, is our handling of money, that Jesus said where we spend our money determines who we truly love: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:34) If God is in our hearts, and we say that we love Him, shouldn’t our money be sent to wherever God has directed that it should go? Speaking the Truth in love to the Body of Christ, can we honestly say that we love God, when we refuse to give our tithes and offerings to Him? (Mal. 3:10) How can we grow-up into spiritual maturity, into the full stature of Christ Jesus, if we are serving the god of Mammon?
If we do not understand the Purpose for Money, then we are bound to misuse and abuse it. If we are found to be unfaithful stewards of the money God places into our hands, how can God trust us with more money? Or for that matter, how can we be trusted with the “True Riches” of God, which is deeper revelation into the mystery of Christ in us the hope of glory, if money is our god? (Luke 16:11-12)
The Truth about the Purpose of Money is this: God has given to us the Spirit of the Lord and Anointing (Power) to get wealth (money and material wealth and substance) to establish God’s Covenant in the earth that He made with Abraham. We can say then that we have a Covenant with God concerning Money. Let’s turn to Deuteronomy 8:18, and see what God through Moses told the children of Israel about the Purpose of wealth.
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God; for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Moses told the children of Israel that God was their Source for acquiring wealth, and that He had given them the power to get wealth to establish His Covenant that He swore to their ancestors: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This is the Covenant that God made with Abraham, as recorded at Genesis 12:1-3. It reads:]
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
In the Abrahamic Covenant, God Promised to make of Abraham a great nation, to bless him, and make his name great. Furthermore, God “Commanded Abraham to be a blessing,” and Promised him that anyone who blessed him, He would bless, and anyone who cursed him, they would be cursed. And, through the Seed of Abraham, all families of the earth would be blessed. Meaning that there would come a day that a person in Abraham’s blood line would come into the world who would be a blessing to all of the families of the earth. Jesus Christ is that blessed seed Promised to Abraham. (Gal. 3:2)
Abraham began walking with God, and while not always perfect in his walk, God blessed him with great wealth during his sojourn through Egypt. Abraham was made very rich in cattle, silver, and gold. (Gen. Gen. 12:9-20, 13:1-2) Abraham also obeyed the Commandment of God to “be a blessing.”
For example, recall at Genesis Chapter 14, after the battle of the Five Kings, in which Lot, Abraham’s nephew had been taken with the people of Sodom and Gomorrah captive, Abraham with the Spirit of the Lord upon him and 318-trained servants of his household, decisively fought and won the battle. He returned with all the spoils of war, and with Lot and the people of Sodom taken captive. (Gen.14: 8-15) Abraham gave to Melchizedek, the King-Priest of Salem (a type of Christ) a tenth of the spoils of battle. (Gen.14:18-20)

Also, Abraham took nothing for himself of the spoils of battle, but told the King of Sodom to keep the remaining spoils for himself, and give a portion of the goods to the men who had fought the battle with him. (Gen.14:21-24) At Genesis 24:1 when Abraham was old and well stricken in age, God had blessed him in “all things.” The blessing of great wealth was also upon Isaac, and then Jacob, as God had Promised. (Gen. 26: 12-14 & Gen. 30:25-41)
So when God through Moses told the children of Israel that he had given to them the Power (Anointing) to get wealth to establish His Covenant in earth, He meant that if Israel obeyed God’s Commandments and served only Him, that great wealth would be transferred into their hands from other nations who had worshipped false gods, for the Purpose of establishing the Covenant that God had made with Abraham. That is, Israel would be blessed to conquer their enemies, gather the spoils of battel, and with the wealth remember to honor God and be a blessing to others. This is money with a Mission.
Fast forward to Jesus Christ, the Promised seed to Abraham. (See the genealogy of Christ at Matthew 1:1-17 & Luke 3:23-38.) It was by the finished works of Jesus on the cross that all people who believe in Him were made heirs to the Promises God made to Abraham in Genesis Chapter 12.
The Apostle Paul wrote at Galatians 3:29, that “if any person is in Christ, they are a part of Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the Promise.” This means that if you belong to Christ, you are Abraham’s spiritual seed, and an heir to the Promises made to Abraham. (Also, see Gal. 3: 6-9, which witnesses that all those who have faith in Jesus Christ are the same as the children of Abraham and have been blessed with faithful Abraham.)
I say again Saints, as born-again Christians, through Jesus Christ, we have a “Money Covenant with God our Father.” We have been blessed by God, and Commanded to be a blessing to God and others with our money. The blessing that is on your life has empowered you to get rich for God’s Divine Purpose. (Prov.13:22) Also, any person who blesses you, they in turn are blessed of God, and those who curse you are cursed by God.
Let’s take a look at Galatians 3:13-14, for in it we see the Mission/Purpose of the cross of Christ. Sadly, however, many Christians have refused to accept, or fully embrace, the “Truth” of the reason Jesus died on the cross for our sins. But, let God be True and every man a liar. The Truth is Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we might be made “rich,” spiritually and materially. Paul wrote at verses 13-14:
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on Calvary, bore the curse of our sins in His own body, and died on the cross to take away the sins of the world. For this reason: So that the blessing of Abraham might come on us through “faith” in Jesus. The blessing of Abraham was given to us when we received the “Spirit of the Lord”, the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit if you prefer.
When you gave your life to Christ, God gave to you the gift of the Holy Ghost. With the equipping of the Holy Ghost, you received the Anointing, which is the Power of God to get wealth, money, and material substance. (Acts 1:8) The Divine Purpose of wealth being, so that God may establish His Covenant in the earth; that all families of the earth be blessed. It is God’s desire that every person on earth receive the Spirit of the Lord to be made rich in material wealth and substance and become faithful stewards.
The Body of Christ, corporately and individually, must come to the place where we accept the “Truth” in love about the cross of Christ. Again, Jesus died on the cross so that we might be made “rich.” II Corinthians 8:9 says so!
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
We were “made” rich in Spirit when we received the Spirit of the Lord into our born-again hearts, and blessed with wealth, money and material substance, under the Abrahamic Covenant, through faith in the finished works of Jesus Christ: His death, burial, Resurrection from the dead on the third-day, Ascension to the right hand throne of God the Father, where we are all seated together in heavenly places in Him. We have been seated together in Christ, so that in perpetuity, God might lavishly grace us with the exceeding richness of His Kindness towards us through the knowledge of Christ. (Eph. 2:6-7)
Praise God, the Truth is so liberating! Romans 8:32, says “God spared not His only son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not also with Jesus give to us all things?” God gave to us Jesus Christ His only begotten Son, why would He then withhold from us His Wisdom and Power to get wealth?
Imagine if the entire Body of Jesus Christ would believe the full gospel of Jesus Christ and use the Spiritual Equipment we have been given, the Spirit of the Lord and Anointing, to get wealth to establish God’s Covenant in the earth as Divinely Purposed. Church resources would always be plentiful to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world to the saving of souls, and households would be blessed with the power to get wealth and to share it with the less fortunate, until all the families of the earth are blessed, according to their faith in Jesus Christ.
Now, let’s close with prayer. Lord we thank you for the Word today. Thank you for predestinating us to be the sons of God, and we welcome the transformation process we are going through to be conformed to the image of your dear Son Jesus Christ. Thank you for coming into our hearts and taking up residence, to abide in us, forever. We are thankful to have your nature; we are supreme lovers of You and all people.
Our hearts are determined to let Jesus live through us to show forth His Character, Behavior, and Work of Ministry so that you might be glorified in the earth. Thanks for equipping us with the Spirit of the Lord and Anointing which enables us to get wealth to establish your Covenant in the earth. We willingly and cheerfully set our hearts and thought-life to use money and all material wealth and substance to build up the Kingdom of God and to be a blessing to all the people of the earth. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Next, week we will talk about how the Spirit of the Lord seeks to position us to get wealth. The Lord willing see you then.
