SERMON HIGHLIGHTS: The Gospel Cycle: “When Jesus Christ Is Preached in Your House Daily, Salvation Will Rest on Your Family.”
As I meditate on Acts Chapter 5, I am deeply impressed and impacted by the ministry and lives of the Apostles of Jesus Christ as they preached the gospel, performed miracles, and suffered great torture by the Jews for doing so. But, my greatest take away is how after they were beaten badly and threatened by the Jewish leaders to stop preaching on the name of Jesus Christ and His resurrection---they rejoiced and praised God—and continued to preach the gospel in the temple, streets, and house to house without quitting! (Acts 5:12)
Today, for the most part, churches have stopped preaching and teaching Jesus Christ everywhere as Jesus commanded us to do. As a result we have aborted the mission! (Mark 16:15) Tell me, when was the last time you saw Christians in the streets proclaiming the gospel or going door to door sharing Jesus in households? Our inactivity in the streets and homes has led to few or no manifestations of the Spirit of God—the lame, blind, deaf, demon possessed are not being healed and delivered!
It’s amazing to me how many preachers and lay Christians I hear standing in church testifying that, “Jesus Christ is the head of their lives”, they say “Jesus is all to Me”, or that they “Love God with all their heart, soul and might. Also, in their homes they have plenty of bibles and crosses, play gospel music, display religious pictures on their walls, and own hats and clothing with holy slogans on them—but Jesus Christ is not taught in the home daily! This is called love with dissimulation, a cruel and dishonest cover-up or hypocrisy! We preach Jesus in Church on Sundays, but are learning nothing about Him at home daily.
When I reflect on Acts 5:42, I ask myself: When did we as Christians stop preaching and teaching Jesus Christ daily in church, and especially for this message in our homes? Frankly, I doubt that any of us have any recollection or image for that matter of a father sitting down with his family daily in the home teaching on Jesus Christ. Do you? Yet the early church, made it their practice to preach and teach Jesus Christ in every home daily. As they did, the covenant blessing of Abraham rested on each home. (Genesis 12:1-3 & Galatians 3:14-14). As the families learned of Jesus and received Him as Lord—salvation rested on each home with love, peace, healing, deliverance and prosperity following. Because we have failed to follow this example of preaching Christ in every home, the devil has invaded and implanted chaos in the family.
I challenge you to return to the ways of the early church and begin teaching and preaching Jesus Christ in your home daily without ceasing. I encourage you to purchase a King James Version Bible published by Hollman. Just before the Concordance of the Hollman Bible, you will find a handy table reference of the Miracles of Jesus with scriptural references, by each gospel writer, the Appearances of Jesus after His Resurrection, His Parables, Special Noted Events of His Life. For the next 90 days read, study, and teach from these passages of scriptures and watch the dynamic difference it will make in the lives of your family. Watch how much closer you and your family will become, how healthier and free from demonic depression your family will be. Money will begin to flow into your house to improve your finances. Most importantly, your friends, neighbors, and coworkers will notice the changes in your family and desire to know how they can have a family like yours. Always remember, the closer you get to Jesus Christ, the more you will look like Him to others!
