Sermon: “God’s Oath to Dr. JoAnne P. King:
Surely I Have Blessed You, and Your Seed Afterwards.”
March 27, 2022
This is a very special Sunday Service at Exousia Ministries, Inc., and one of a life-time. We dedicate this Service and Message to an excellent servant of the Lord, Dr. Joanne P. King, as she celebrates her 90th birthday on Monday, March 28th. God is faithful and has said unto all those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High, that He would satisfy them with long-life, and show them their salvation. (Ps. 91:16) This is certainly the life of Dr. King.
Dr. King, I hear the Lord saying in this moment, His Promise from Isaiah 43:1-2:
Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you
by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through
the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers,
they shall not overflow you. When you walk through
the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame
scorch you.”
This blessing you have from God and you need not concern, nor worry yourself over what will happen to you, for God is your life and the length of your days! (Deut. 30:20)
Dr. King, today’s Message will not focus on your past life and many outstanding achievements. Nor will it consider the tribulations and persecutions you have endured and overcome in your life-time. I have come to talk about your future: Namely, this deep and abiding promise that God Almighty has planted in your born-again heart that will be continually harvesting, until the day of the Lord Jesus Christ’s return to rapture His Church!
Here at Exousia Ministries, Inc., we are people of faith in God. We live and walk by faith, and not by sight. (Rom. 1:17 & II Cor. 5:7) And, the faith of Jesus Christ that God planted in you Dr. King, always looks forward into the future, grabs hold of God-good things from the kingdom of God, and brings them into your today! (II Cor. 5:17, II Cor. 4:18 & Rom. 4:17)
Dr. King’s favorite song is entitled, “Only What You Do For Christ Will Last.” Did you hear that? Now, that’s Bible right there. It’s what you are doing for Christ—not what you have done in the past that last. What will Jesus Christ find you doing when he returns? (Luke 18:8) We are always pressing toward the mark of the high-calling of God in Christ Jesus to live and to do those things that are pleasing to Him.
Indeed, no one is more excited to celebrate Dr. King’s birthday than me, as her beloved second and youngest born son. Every time I look at my mother, I say to God, “Lord I thank you for my Momma, because I never have deserved her. But, because you favor me in all things, you gave to me the best mother ever created on earth.” And, “I thank you Lord, because she serves as the model I need of Jesus Christ in the earth to pattern my life after.”
Believe me, and most of you know me pretty well. I will not flatter nor shower any person with words, including my own father or mother, except they are truth. I am determined to tell the truth every time and to everyone regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth in love has become my mantel, and so with great honor I tell you the truth today concerning Dr. King.
This message is directly from God to Dr. King, but also has great benefit for every born-again Christian in the body of Christ.
Let us see now what the Lord has to say from Hebrews 6.13-15.
For when God made promise to Abraham,
because He could swear by no one greater,
He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely blessing
I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply
you.” And so, after he had patiently endured he
obtained the promise.
The International Version records God’s promise this way, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”
Through faith in Jesus Christ, every born-again Christian has been blessed with faithful Abraham, and we are the same as the children of Abraham. (Gal. 3:6-9, 13 &14) Moreover, we have been baptized into Christ, and are heirs of the promise God made to Abraham. (Gal. 3:27-29)
As heirs of the promise, we have been blessed to receive an abundance of material wealth and substance, land, divine health, and deliverance from all enemies, and exceeding long life.
This blessing of Abraham is available and extended to our children in their generations—to all who will come and be baptized into Christ. Glory be to God! (See God’s promise to Abraham at Gen. 12:1-3, reiterated through blood covenant at 15:1-11, & and name changed from Abram to Abraham 17:1-8.)
Now, let’s have a brief primer in the believers’ baptisms as they are very important to understand: As Christians, there are three baptisms that belong to us and we must receive:
(1) The Baptism into Jesus Christ and His Body at repentance and the new birth. [Rom. 6:3-7, I Cor. 12:13, Gal. 3:27, and Col. 2:11-13]. This baptism is the only one that saves the heart (soul and spirit) of a person and brings them into the body of Christ. This baptism occurs when we repent of our sins, believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and God has raised Him from the dead.
With the complete surrender of our lives to Jesus Christ, we are blessed with the very faith of Jesus Christ; we are planted together with Jesus Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Our “Old Man,” and its sinful nature, which was dominated and under the power of Satan is crucified with Jesus so that the body of sin (all works of sin) might be destroyed. Hence, we are dead to sin. Completely separated from sin—made free from sin so that we should no longer serve it. And, most importantly, we have been made free to live in the resurrected life of Jesus Christ.
(2) The Baptism in the Holy Ghost, which is the endowment of power for service to Jesus Christ to fulfill the Great Commission, and live out the life of Jesus Christ on earth. Indeed, there is no reason for God to make our born-again hearts the carbon copy of Jesus Christ, and not give us the power to do the same works and greater works of Christ. [Matt. 3:11, 14, 20:22-23; Mark 1:8, 10:38-39; Luke 3:16; John 1:33, 7:37-39, 14:12; and Acts 1:5 & 8, 11:16, and 19:1-7]
The Holy Ghost gives us the power to perform the mighty works of Jesus Christ—healings, deliverances, raising of the dead, casting out of devils, to gain wealth dynamically, and perform the greater works of Christ. The Holy Ghost witnesses with our spirits that we are the sons of God. One very special manifestation of the receipt of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance, providing the evidence that God is in His holy habitation.
(3) The Baptism in Water, follows one being saved and involves the full immersion of the believer in water, symbolizing outwardly and publically that the Christian has experienced the new birth in Jesus Christ—union with Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to new life. (Matt. 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, 8:12-16, 36-38, 9:18, 10:47-48, 16:15, 33, 18:8, 19:5, 22:16, I Cor. 1:13, 17, and I Pet. 3:21).
Baptism in water may occur before or after the baptism in the Holy Ghost is received. But, never before the Baptism into Christ and into His Body, because repentance of sin and confession of Jesus Christ as Lord, is required before anyone may come to God and be born-again. (John 14:6)
The Holy Ghost is the agent who baptizes the believer into Jesus Christ and into His Body. (I Cor. 12; 12-13) Whereas Jesus Christ is the agent who baptizes the believer in the Holy Ghost, (Matt. 3:11, John 1:31-33) and the minister is the agent who baptizes the believer in full emersion in water. (Matt. 28:19)
As a born-again Christian, Dr. King is baptized into Jesus Christ and His Body. When Dr. King surrendered her life to Jesus Christ as a young child, she was planted into the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This means she literally became clothed with Jesus Christ, to assume His person and character; and to act the part and sustain the character of Christ in her daily life.
From age 7, 20, 30, 50, 70, to 90 she is continually growing in Christ—maturing into Jesus—into whom she was planted into the True Vine, Jesus Christ. We should not be amazed by the branch (the life of Dr. King) who is abiding in the Vine. Her life bears the fruit of Jesus Christ, because she abides in the Vine. (John 15:1-5)
We should expect to see the fruit of the Spirit (such as: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance) flowing through her life. (Gal. 5:22-23) Likewise, we should expect to see the gifts of the Spirit (such as: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues—all working severally as God wills through her. (I Cor. 12:8-10)
Not because Dr. King is 90-years old, 80, or 70; or has been a church goer for 60-plus years. But, because she has been baptized into Christ—planted, and is abiding in the Vine! When you abide in the Vine you will always bear fruit regardless of your natural age. In fact, the older Dr. King gets the more she will flourish. (Ps. 92:12-14)
As Dr. King abides in the Vine, in the process of time, the Lord carefully and skillfully prunes her so she can bear fruit and much more fruit. More and more she has shed parts of our old-self—behavior, performance, thoughts, and ideas she learned and adhered to while living in the world—and has become transformed into the will, calling, and purposes of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 12:1-2)
Most important for this Message, because Dr. King is baptized into Jesus Christ and His Body, she is Abraham’s seed and an heir (a rightful owner) of the promise God made to Abraham. God through Jesus Christ, has sown a seed of promise in the deepest parts of Dr. King’s heart—and this seed of promise is the same seed that He planted in the heart of Abraham. This seed contains a promise that shall be fulfilled—because as God swore an oath to Abraham, so likewise God has sworn an oath to Dr. King.
Now understand, the Scripture says God made a promise and swore an oath to Abraham. (Heb. 6:13) God’s promises are unchanging and trustworthy because God is unchanging and trustworthy.
You didn’t catch that. God changes not and He is Truth. God does not have truth—He is Truth. Therefore, everything that He says cannot be changed, and can be depended upon. (Mal. 3:6, Prov. 3:5, James 1:1) Had God not kept His covenant promise to Abraham and Sarah and given them a son, (Isaac) God’s name would have been worthless! (Gen.17:19)
But, just has God promised, when Abraham was 100 and Sarah his wife 90, they obtained the promise. Sarah miraculously gave birth to “Isaac” who God named—meaning, “One who laughs or who rejoices.” (Gen. 21:1-7 & Gen. 26:13-32)
Many years afterwards, God would test Abraham’s faith and relationship with Him, as God commanded Abraham to go and sacrifice Isaac whom he loved greatly. (Gen. 22:1-5) If this were our situation as parents, most of us would have immediately said to God, “Say what, sacrifice my child? No way!”
Abraham and Sarah had longed for a child their entire marriage, but were unable to conceive for she was barren. The couple had waited 25-years by covenant promise for God’s promise to be fulfilled in Isaac. The son they finally had miraculously beyond the years of child-birth. And, now God says go and offer Isaac as a sacrifice to Him?
But, who gave Abraham and Sarah the child in the first place? In essence, God was testing and examining the heart of Abraham to see how deeply he loved and trusted Him. God was saying, will you trust me with that which is most precious to you? Will you still love and trust me in God, if Isaac is dead and no longer in your life? What is most important to you Abraham, what I command you to do, or your sparing the life of your son?
But, Abraham staggered not at the promise of God. What great trust Abraham had in God to freely and willingly obey Gods and move forward with taking the life of Isaac. Many of us have seen movies that have portrayed Isaac as a child being placed on the altar for sacrifice.
But, Isaac was more likely a young man. Biblical scholars have given estimates that Isaac was between 20-years old to as much 37-years old, when he was placed on the altar for sacrifice. The wood and supplies needed for the offering would have been too heavy for a very-aged Abraham, and young child, to carry the distance to the place where Isaac would be offered.
Oh, how Abraham had grown in his relationship with God. He had grown from being cowardly in his dealings with Sarah in Egypt with the Pharaoh and king Abimelech, into the courageous man of God, who on purpose, marched upward to the mountain top of Jerusalem—Calvary—being the highest peak, where it is thought that Isaac was offered as a type of Christ.
Abraham in faith, when he saw the place a far off (Calvary) where Isaac would be offered, told the two servants that accompanied he and Isaac on their journey, that “he and the lad would go yonder and worship and come again” to them. Abraham had faith that if he slew Isaac, God would resurrect him from the dead. (Heb. 11:17-19) Although he and Isaac did not bring an animal with them, Abraham knew that God would provide for Himself a lamb for a burnt offering.
As they came to the place where the sacrifice would be made, Abraham bound Isaac, and laid him on the altar, and on the wood. When Abraham stretched forth the knife to slay Isaac, from heaven, the angel of the Lord called out to him to stay his hand, and do Isaac no harm. Saying, now he knew he feared God seeing he had not withheld Isaac from God. Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught in a thicket by his horns, and he went and offered it to the Lord, instead of Isaac.
It was because of Abraham’s great obedience to God to willingly offer Isaac, that God then swore and made an oath to fulfill the promise made to Abraham—to “bless him and multiply his seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore, his seed would possess the gate of his enemies, and in thee shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because he had obeyed God’s voice.”
That day, Abraham put his all on the altar of sacrifice to God, withholding nothing from God that he loved. God made a promise to Abraham, and even swore an oath to him, because there is none greater to swear by than God—God swore by Himself, that this promise would be fulfilled: “Surely blessing He would bless him and give to him many descendants.”
In telling Abraham to “look up at the stars of the sky and to look at the sands of the earth—so shall thy seed be,” God was not speaking about Isaac, but speaking to his heritage coming after Isaac; for multitudes of other descendants would follow afterwards in the covenant of promise made to Abraham. For through his seed, (Jesus Christ) all families of the earth would be blessed.
Dr. King hear me now. Similar to Abraham, you have given your life to God. Just like Abraham, you have liberally given your money to God—your tithes, first fruit offerings, and general offerings to God. You have given your time, attention, and service fully to God. Even that which is most precious to you—your two sons—you have not held back from God, but freely you dedicated them to the service of God.
In other words, YOU HAVE PLACED YOUR ALL ON THE ALTAR OF SACRIFICE TO GOD!
God chose you, Dr. King, to baptize into Jesus Christ and His body, so that He could place the blessing of Abraham in your heart. Like with Abraham (Gen.18:17-19) God knew you would command your children and household, in their generations after you, to keep the commandments of God, to do justice, and judgement, so that the Lord could bring upon you and generations afterwards, that which He swore an oath, saying: Surely blessing I will bless you and give to you many descendants.”
When you willingly sacrificed your best to God (your sons), you entered into Covenant agreement with Him. You practiced loving God, as God loved and sacrificed His only begotten son Jesus Christ for the sins of the world. (John 3:16) His promise to you is immutable to bring your natural and spiritual children into the Covenant Blessing of Abraham.
The Apostle Paul wrote this at Heb. 6:17-19:
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew
unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his
counsel, confirmed it by an oath. That by two
immutable things, (promise and oath) in which
it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a
strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to
lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope
we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and
steadfast, and which entereth into that within the
veil.
Dr. King, God says as heir, an owner of the promise I made to Abraham, you are blessed of God. You also, have been given “hope” (an expectation) that your seed (descendants) shall be multiplied as the stars of the heavens and sands of the seashore. I have made you a promise and sworn an oath to you and it is unchangeable!
Your born-again heart holds like an anchor this hope (expectation) of the fulfillment of the promise. Just as made sure and fast, as a ship’s anchor dropped at the bottom of the sea! Your “seed” are not just your biological children and their generations afterwards, but your spiritual children in their generations afterwards as well.
In your heart, deepest passion, just as it was with my servant Abraham—I have placed “My Passion” to see all families of the earth blessed. Again, not just your own blood family blessed, but families all over the world blessed. Behold and meditate on the “promise” inside you now!
Do you understand now why for so many years you have taken up the cause for children and disadvantaged people all over the world—why you are compelled to give to so many charities?
Behold, how you treasure Israel, and long to see my people return to Me through Jesus Christ. See how you call and cry out for the world to come to me. See how you love every living thing and refuse to let it die—from flowers, to grass, to trees, to animals, to birds—you desire them all to live and come into maturity and happiness.
God says, I have taken you from an “eaglet,” to a full and matured “eagle.”
One saying is, “to have faith in God, is to sore high like an eagle. Behold, how you are able to sore with your powerful wings far above hatred, judgement, and condemnation of others, and then to humbly throttle down to bring the divine mercies and power of God to all people.
Behold, how I have made your spiritual vision crystal clear so that even from a far, you are able to spot a person in pain, suffering, poverty, demonic oppression and touch them with my Anointing through prayer.
Behold, how I have given you the heritage of Isaac to always be happy and joyful, even in sad times. See for yourself Dr. King, how I have made it impossible for you to anger and rage, and instead you offer love and forgiveness to all.
Behold, as the eagles of the air, you only desire to company yourself in the Convocation of Saints. This is your destiny to be a part of the Great Coronation that will be held in the middle of the Air when My Son Jesus Christ returns.
Now, spread your wings wide Dr. King sore over the multitudes of people you encounter and they shall see the light of Christ in you, surrender to Christ, and receive the blessing of Abraham.
Behold, you have many spiritual descendants, many—so many who call you Mother who await a Word from God from your mouth, wise counsel, prayer of healing from you, to receive a call from you, to hear your laughter, to receive the laying on of hands, to receive gifts from you—to just sit and be around you.
The Lord says, your work has only just begun. Behold I have called you to abide in my Holy Mountain of Prayer to offer up the sweet smelling sacrifices of praise and prayer for all people.
Behold, I have placed upon your hands a fresh Anointing, the touch of my virtue and compassion—anything that your hands contact—handkerchiefs, cards, towels, will possess healing and deliverance. To do miracles and special works that flow from the Throne of Grace shall serve as a witness that I love all those who love my Son Jesus Christ.
In closing, I say to every Christian, you are baptized into Jesus Christ and His Body. The covenant promise of blessings of health and prosperity belong to you as heirs of God, to your family, and generations afterwards.
The precious key to seeing the blessing of Abraham manifest on your life, is through free-will sacrifice of all you are and own to God.
God has sworn an oath, which is unchangeable to bless you and your generations. The question only remains: Is your all on the altar of sacrifice? God requires your complete trust in Him. We are not to withhold anything from God. All that we are and own is supplied by God, and not of our own determination and performance.
If there is anything you have been withholding from God—your tithes and offerings, time and service, truth about sin—whatever you have not put on the altar of sacrifice to God. I urge you to bind it up and lay it down now on the altar of sacrifice! Truly, when you have sacrificed all, God will cause you to take it up again and give you far greater in abundance! For God has sworn an oath to you, saying: “Surely blessing I will bless you and give to you many descendants.”
When we give our best sacrificially to God, our gift given in love, reminds God of His sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father, Savior of the world. May you and your generations afterwards enjoy divine health, longevity, land, prosperity, and victory over your enemies. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, the Anointed One and His Anointing! Amen.
